Avon Schools Singles Tournament – Bath’s Daniel Money to go for the treble!

Bath’s very own Daniel Money, coached by Richard Little, is the reigning Avon Schools U16’s singles tennis champion and has held the title for the last 2 years, 2012 and 2013. He hopes to make it a hat-trick of victories in the upcoming 2014 tournament!2013-05-12_15.05.35

The event is run at Clifton College Sports ground and attracts entrants from both private and state schools across the Avon area. In 2013 Daniel defeated his close Bath rival, Calum Montgomery, in the semi-finals and went on to win the final against Jack Sparkes from Writhlington School.

Everyone at the club wishes Daniel the very best of luck!

No stranger to competitive tennis, Daniel reached the 14 and Under National Finals in HSBC’s Road to Wimbledon Tournament 2012. Daniel, then a Year 9 student at Wellsway School, won the Bath Tennis Club Road to Wimbledon Club Tournament and therefore qualified for the Avon County Finals held at Coombe Dingle in Bristol. There he won all 4 of his matches to take the title of Avon Road to Wimbledon Champion. Though he didn’t get to play at Wimbledon itself (small matter of the London 2012 Olympics!), he did get to play on grass for the first time at Roehampton.
